DAAD-scholarship holder Huda Javaid
PhD Candidate
Huda Javaid did her MPhil in Environmental Science and Policy from Lahore School of Economics (LSE). After completing her MPhil, she worked as an independent social researcher under the auspices of Dr. Munir Ghazanfar and Rabia Nadir. In 2019 Huda Javaid received a DAAD scholarship for her PhD project on peri-urban development in the eastern part of Lahore and joined the South Asia Institute. In her PhD project, she investigates the socio-ecological transformation of peri-urban villages since the last two decades of rapid urbanization in Lahore, Pakistan. During her MPhil at LSE and later, she has had a chance to appear on several international forums as a presenter and critic. She aims to continuously enhance her expertise as a social scientist, writer, and teacher. Ecologies, humans, and nature vary from place to place, but human and natural monocultures are proliferating under an unchecked model of capitalist growth. She would like to be a part of research that looks at the society-environment relationship deeply and critically to give due recognition to diversity and social justice.
