Research and Partners

Founded in 1962 as an interdisciplinary centre for research and study on South Asia, the South Asia Institute conducts numerous projects in South Asia in close cooperation with local partners. Guests and scholarship holders from South Asia are regularly in residence at the institute.

CATS Library

The library of the Centre for Asian and Transcultural Studies (CATS Library) was established in 2019 and accommodates the collections of the South Asia Institute (SAI), the Centre for East Asian Studies (ZO), the Institute of Anthropology, and the Heidelberg Centre for Transcultural Studies (HCTS).

Specialised Information Services South Asia (fid4sa)

FID4SA's services are aimed at transdisciplinary research related to South Asia. Their work focuses on the provision of research literature via interlibrary loan, electronic publishing in open access, and the digitisation and presentation of holdings relevant for research and teaching.
