New Delhi Branch Office
The South Asia Institute was one of the first European academic institutions to be represented in India when it opened its branch office in New Delhi in 1962. The office provides an integral link between the SAI and its Indian partners and acts as a bridge for academic exchange between the two countries. Its main tasks include:
- Promoting academic exchange between India and Germany in the field of social sciences and humanities
- Supporting Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) between SAI/Heidelberg University and academic institutions in India
- Facilitating research collaboration between local institutions in both countries
- Supporting researchers with administrative and bureaucratic procedures
- Supporting research projects of SAI staff and students in India
- Administration of the Baden-Württemberg scholarship
- Organization of workshops, lectures and seminars in collaboration with German and local partners.
