Navigating life involves multiple layers of meaning, with sensory anthropology uncovering much of this through intrapersonal narratives, while cross-cultural studies focus on interpersonal dynamics. Learning from the cultures and narratives of different groups offers enriching perspectives, though many aspects remain unexplored in global academic discourse. These deserve recognition and further exploration in scientific studies, potentially leading to significant impacts. Indonesia, an archipelagic country with over 17,000 islands and 1,331 ethnic groups, offers unique insights into healing and health practices. Drawing from fieldwork and studies in both Indonesia and Europe, I aim to inspire collaborative research on topics like the treatment of psychotic patients, altered states of consciousness in traditional healing, and a compendium of local healing practices, such as weton, ruwatan, ruqyah, and transcendental meditation.
