Affiliated Researcher Dr. Dagmar Brombierstäudl

Dagmar Brombierstäudl is passionate about earth observation and approaches from an applied perspective. Her research area is the Trans-Himalaya and although she primarily works on the cryosphere, her interests are versatile and she is eager to explore the possibilities remote sensing provides to support and answer problems emerging from a rapidly changing world. 
She holds a BA in South Asian Studies and a M.Sc. in Geography from Heidelberg University. She has completed her doctorate with a study about aufeis in the Trans-Himalaya at the department, where she has worked from 2020 to 2024. Since 2025, she works at the Institute of Environmental Social Scienes and Geography at the University of Freiburg.

Award

Dagmar Brombierstäudl received the “Forschungspreis Geographien Südasiens” in 2020 for her Master thesis on a time-series analysis of the vegetation dynamic after the ice- and debris avalanche in Langtang Valley, Nepal. 

Extended abstract
