Associate Lecturer Andreas Roock, M.A.

Andreas Roock studied Classical Indology, the History of Religion, and the History of South Asia at the University of Heidelberg, where he graduated in 1996 with a Magister Artium. He later pursued further studies, earning a second degree (Dipl.-psych.) from the Department of Psychology at Heidelberg University, with a particular focus on the psychology of religion.

Since 1997, he has been an associate lecturer of Pāli at the South Asia Institute (SAI) in Heidelberg, with a strong interest in the Theravāda Buddhist tradition. Over the years, he has contributed to several projects at SAI and its library. In addition to Pāli, he has also taught various computing courses for students of South Asian Studies and introductory courses in Indology. Motivated by his profound interest in languages, he currently also teaches German as a second language to non-German speakers wishing to study in Germany.
