Prof. Kama Maclean article in the “Indian Economic and Social History Review”
Prof. Dr. Kama Maclean has just published an article in the Indian Economic and Social History Review. The article revisits the idea of collaboration in colonial contexts, suggesting that the withdrawal of collaboration was processual and covert. Based on a study of the operations of Indian personnel working in coercive institutions in the context of the Civil Disobedience movement, during which revolutionaries and Congress workers were often imprisoned together, the article shows how the covert nationalism of police and prison workers ostensibly working for the colonial state undermined it from within. The article is based on the Third Satadru Sen Memorial Lecture, delivered in 2021, which can be seen in the link beside.
